In the month of December 2021, the Uttarakhand government had allowed withdrawing the ‘Devasthanam Board Act’ in the parliament, which was approved by the Uttarakhand Governor, retired Lieutenant Governor General Gurmeet Singh. After this order, there is satisfaction among the pilgrimage priests, while there is enthusiasm about this matter as well.
After the order by the Uttarakhand Governor, the admin members of about 50 pilgrimage spots in the Uttarakhand including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri i.e. Chardham has now come in the hands of the priests of the committee.
These pilgrimage priests was standing against this law for the last 2 consecutive years and in view of their opposition, the government decides to withdraw this law. Now after the approval of the governor, once again the Badri Kedar temple committee will now enjoy their rights as before, while Gangotri and Yamunotri will be run by the local priest’s committees.
