Day 01: Haridwar – Guptkashi (220kms/8-9hrs drive one way) Height: 1319 MTS.

As you travel, you’ll be captivated by the beauty of the Mandakini River, which flows alongside your route. This river originates from Kedarnath, adding a sense of connection to your destination. Upon reaching Guptkashi, take a moment to visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple, an important spiritual site. After a day of travel and exploration, check into your hotel in Guptkashi for an overnight stay.

Guptkashi translates to “Hidden Kashi,” and its rich mythology enhances the experience. Legend has it that when the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva’s blessings, He first concealed Himself here before moving on to Kedarnath. This deep connection is reflected in the lives of the local priests, who reside in Guptkashi during the winter months, ensuring a warm welcome for pilgrims.

Guptkashi enjoys a pleasant climate in summer, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius, making it an ideal stopover on your Kedarnath tour package.

Day 02: Guptkashi  / / Kedarnath  Height: 3384 MTS.

After a nourishing breakfast, prepare for your journey to Sonprayag. You can either trek to Kedarnath or take a helicopter ride. If you choose to trek, start early to make the most of your day.

For those opting for the helicopter, your driver will take you to the pre-booked helipad. Regardless of your choice, both routes lead to the sacred Kedarnath shrine, situated at an altitude of 3,384 meters. This temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and is set against the breathtaking Kedarnath mountain range.

The temple’s importance is rooted in the tale of the Pandavas, who sought redemption from Lord Shiva after the Kurukshetra war. In his efforts to evade them, Lord Shiva transformed into a bull and eventually submerged into the ground, leaving only his hump visible. This narrative is intertwined with the surrounding geography, as other forms of Lord Shiva can be found at nearby shrines: Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhmaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar, collectively known as the Panch Kedar.

Kedarnath’s weather can be quite cool, so light woolen clothing is advisable during summer, while warmer garments are necessary in winter, when temperatures can drop significantly.

Day 03: Kedarnath to Guptkashi 

On the third day, start with an early morning visit to the Kedarnath Temple for pooja. After breakfast, check out from your hotel and make your way back to Guptkashi, reflecting on the divine experiences you’ve encountered along the way.

Day 04: Drive Guptkashi To Haridwar (220kms/8-9 hrs. drive one way)

On your final day, after breakfast, prepare for the return drive to Haridwar. Your journey will take you through the holy town of Rishikesh, known as the “place of sages.” Nestled in the Himalayan foothills, Rishikesh is a spiritual haven and is often called the Yoga Capital of the World. Don’t miss visiting iconic sites such as Laxman Jhulla and Ram Jhulla, which add to the town’s charm.
