World’s Longest Ropeway To Connect Kedarnath

World’s Longest Ropeway To Connect Kedarnath

God Shiva’s worshippers will soon be able to visit the Kedarnath temple in greater luxury and in less time, thanks to the start of construction on a ropeway to this Hindu holy shrine.

Ropeways to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib have completed their detailed project reports (DPR).

Tourism is important for the people of Uttarakhand since it provides jobs and revenue. This highland state welcomed 37 million domestic tourists in 2019, demonstrating the urgent need for improved connectivity.

The state government intends to develop ropeway lines throughout the state to improve connectivity, particularly at popular tourism destinations.

Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath, Govind ghat-Ghangaria-Hemkund, Rani bagh to Hanuman temple in Nainital, Panchkoti – BaUradi (New Tehri), Munsiyari to Khaliya Top, Rishikesh to Neelkanth, and Auli to Gorson are some of the ropeway projects undertaken by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML).

According to the News Media, the forest land transfer process for the Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath and Govind ghat-Ghangaria-Hemkund ropeway projects has started.

The Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath ropeway project will be 13 kilometers long and will cost more than Rs 985 crore to build.

At an altitude of 11,500 feet above sea level, it will be the world’s longest ropeway, cutting pilgrims’ travel time to the Kedarnath shrine in the Rudraprayag region in half. They would be able to travel from Sonprayag to Kedarnath in 60 minutes thanks to the ropeway.
