About Triyuginarayan temple
Triyuginarayan temple is situated at a distance of 12km from sonprayag in Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand at an altitude of 1980 meters above sea level. located on the bank of rivers Songanga and Mandankani, this temple is dedicated to the god Vishnu. Its believed that the legend of the god shiva is about marriage to goddess Parvati Mata witnessed by the lord Vishnu.
History and Mythology of Triyuginarayan temple
According to legend, Triyuginarayan temple is the capital of Himavat, where the marriage of lord shiva and goddess Parvati took place at the Brahmashila. There is a big Agni Kund in front of the temple, in the presence of which the wedding took place. The temple is placed in Uttarakhand where lord shiva and goddess Parvati were tied into matrimony.
Before marriage, They took a bath in three pools Rudra Kund, Brahma Kund, and Vishnu Kund. Trijuginarayan is also known as Akhand Dhuni temple due to the fire burning in this temple for a year. It is believed that ashes from this fire are to promote conjugal bliss. However, the three kund is from the Saraswati Kund.
