1.        Naini lake in Nainital:-Naini lake Nainital

Nainital lake, popularly known as Naini lake, is a major attraction of Uttarakhand. Surrounded by picturesque seven hills, Nainital lake is a favorite destination among romantic travelers from across the globe. It’s one of the most visited lakes in India. This natural freshwater lake is enchanting and many prominent writers of the world have explained it’s beauty through their poems.

Nainital is also name after the Naini lake which covers a circumference of 2 miles with a deapth of 28meters to 6meters. The calm water of naini lake make tourists fall in love with it’s alluring beauty. The lake was first discovered in 1839 by a British businessman, P.barron, who came across the lake on a hunting expedition.  The tropology of naini lake has two parts, Mallital and Tallital. The northern part is called Mallital and the southern part is called Tallital.

Naini lake is surrounded by seven hills called ayarpata (2235m), Devpata (2273m),Handi bandi(2139m), Cheena peak(2611m), Alma(2270m), Laria kanta(2481m) and sher-ka-danda(2217m).

Naini lake is located at the heart of nainital city and can be reach easily from kathgodam(35km) by taxi or bus.

The mall road is the most popular name of the city of Nainital. The busiest street during the day, the mall road along the banks of Nainital lake. The british built the mall road which passes through the center of Nainital and connects the two main ends of nainital city, maillital and tallital. Tourists  and locals love to stroll through the mall in the evening to enjoy the beauty of naini lake.

Being a commercial hub, the mall road is overcrowded. There are many hotels, restaurants, banks, travel agencies and shops to surprise the visitors. The shops at mall road specialize in unique candles of various shapes and sizes. There are many shops selling wooden artefacts, handicraft items, handmade handlooms and shawls.

Note- mall road is completely no parking zone. Traffic is restricted during the season from 6pm-9pm.

  1. Raj bhawan in Nainital :-Raj bhawan Nainital

Raj bhawan, also known as the Governor’s House, is a British-era building, which now serves as the residence of the governor of Uttarakhand. The architect of the governor’s house was F.W. stevens who came from Bombay with engineers. F.O. Ortel and H.S.Wildbood. The Raj bhawan was constructed between 1897-1900. Raj bhawan known for for it’s splendid appearance and charming old-fashioned architecture, the Raj bhawan in Nainital previously served as the summer residence of British governors.

The raj bhawan is a two-storeyed building with 113 rooms which was used by the british as a summer residence. British VIP’s and guests stayed at the raj bhawan during in Victorian gothic style as a replica of Buckingham place.

Note-The raj bhawan is closed on Sunday and all national holidays.

  1. Tiffin top in Nainital :-Tiffin top Nainital

A popular picnic spot in Nainital, Tiffin top (also known as Dorothy’s seat) perched on the Ayarpatta hills offers a spectacular 360 degree view of the city of Nainital and the surrounding hills of the kumaon region. Apart from being a picnic spot amidst the serene and serene environment, Tiffin Top is a delight for photographers. Dorothy’s seat was built by British Army officer Calonel J.P. Kellett, DSO MC, city of London regiment in memory of his wife, an English artist, Dorothy Kellett, after she died of septicemia on a ship bound for England. 4 children Elizabeth, Joan, Barbara and Richard. He was buried at sea in the red sea in 1936.

Kids love these informative caves because all the caves are full of adventure and fun.
