ABOUT RUDRESHWAR TEMPLE DEHRADUN

Rudreshwar Temple also known as Tapovan Temple is situated in Nalapani (near Raipur) Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. It is the most famous temple for those who are seeking spiritual awakening.

On entering the temple one can see the colossal statue of Lord Shiva. The major source of attraction among the devotees is the Rudraksha tree inside the temple premises. Rudraksha beads are considered to bring positive energy. During Diwali people gather in the temple for the rudraksha beads. A Shivalinga can also be seen here. Stone statues of other Hindu Gods and Goddesses can also be seen here.

An ashram in the name of Guru Dronacharya is also made near the Temple. Due to the ashram’s rich history devotees frequently visit the place to find inner peace. The ashram provides various types of services for the devotees like yoga, meditation, religious chants, etc.

HISTORY AND MYTHOLOGY OF RUDRESHWAR TEMPLE DEHRADUN

Rudreshwar Temple or the Tapovan Temple is one of the most historical places in Dehradun. According to some Hindu beliefs, Guru Dronacharya teaches war skills to Kauravas and Pandavas at this place and, he also indulged in prolonged penance at this place. Since Guru Dronacharya spent a long-time doing meditating here therefore this place is also known as Tapovan Temple. As per Hindu mythology, Rudreshwar temple has a Shivalinga that was carried out through very strict penance by Ashwathama and Guru Dronacharya.

HOW TO REACH RUDRESHWAR TEMPLE DEHRADUN

BY BUS

The temple is situated 5 km from the Clock tower. From here one can go to the temple on walking or can book a taxi.

BY TRAIN

Dehradun is a major railway station connected with all metro cities in the country.

The temple is situated 7 km from the Dehradun Railway Station.

BY AIR

The closest Airport from Dehradun is the Jolly Grant Airport which is 27 km away from the temple.

 

 

ENTRY FEE AND TIMINGS OF RUDRESHWAR TEMPLE DEHRADUN

The Temple is open all seven days of the week from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. There is no entry fee to visit Rudreshwar Temple.

BEST TIME TO VISIT RUDRESHWAR TEMPLE DEHRADUN

Although you can visit the Temple all around the year the best time to visit the Temple is from March to August. During this period the temperature of the place is moderate.

FAIR AND FESTIVAL IN RUDRESHWAR TEMPLE DEHRADUN

During Shivratri, a grand fair is organized by the temple authorities. Many devotees come here to celebrate the marriage of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. Tens of thousands of Shiva devotees come here to celebrate. The temple also hosts a grand fair on many auspicious occasions.
