Roopkund is located in Chamoli Uttarakhand in India. It is one of the most popular glacier lakes, roopkund is placed in the Himalayas at an altitude of 4,800 meters. Roopkund is a well-known site for Trekking in Garhwal. It is near to Nainital at a distance of 217km and Kathgodam at a distance of 235km, Roopkund is famous for adventure and people also come from other countries. Roopkund trek is an awesome journey that gets around from beautiful locations. There you will find a greenly grassy land, it is lovely natural and beauty of green.

How to Reach

Kathgodam is Railways station is the main station in Uttarakhand, which connected with main places like Delhi, Lucknow. The cost of the Delhi to Kathgodam ticket is Rs.150 which is the cost of a second-class sleeper, you have to book the ticket at least a month in advance.

How to reach by Bus:

Daily buses come from Delhi ISBT to Kathgodam, the journey is about 8 hours. Bus basically drops you at Haldwani Bus Stand, from there you have Kathgodam Railway station which is 4km, Kathgodam Railway station you will get TATA Sumo in the morning time.

 

Suggestion: We will suggest you catch Government Buses only from Delhi ISBT.

 

 

How to reach by Train:

Delhi Railway Station you can easily get train name Ranikhet Express. At Delhi time is 10:30 pm and Kathgotham station arriving time is 5:30 am and from Dehradun, you can get the Doon Express timing from Dehradun Railway station 10:30 pm and arriving at kathgodam timing is 7:10 pm.

Risk & Respond

 

Altitude Risk: Ahead you start your trek, you have to mainly understand the meaning of Altitude which can effects your Body. Careful of diseases like Head pain, Fever and discomfort.

 

How to Response: Any time you feel not feeling well immediately inform the trek leader.

 

Weather Risk: In Himalayas weather is Doubtful. Changing of weather in Himalayas is commonly. If weather is not in favour of us we will not proceed.

 

How to Response: The final decision will be taken by Trek Leader, that it will proceed or for some time take rest till the weather be normal.

 

Best Time to Visit Roopkund Trek:

Timing depends on whether when there is snow that you can enjoy trekking. At the end of May is best time for snow, then trek will be adventures to reach the lake. If you want to see Brahma Kamal September is best time to trek.

 

Roopkund Trekking Path:

 Day 1: Firstly drive from Kathgodam to Loharjung. You will arrive at the starting. From here top in vehicle and Loharjung have curvey road with scenery all around.

 

Day 2: Now trek from Loharjung to Didina about 6 hours trek, there is one village in Didina through an iron bridge over the Neel Ganga River. Once you reach the bridge you have to climb the hills for 1 hour then you will reach the Didina village.

 

Day 3: Now trek from Didina to Ali Bugyal, this trek has two routes. We advised to reach Ali Bugyal before afternoon marvel remarkable views, then set your tent instead of the proceeding and take rest for a night in your tent.

 

Day 4: Now trek from Ali Bugyal to Ghora Lotani. After night over this route will be easy about 3km, when you will climb one side you will see the view of the bridge then you will reach the Ghora Lotani, spend rest of the day to the place and rest for a night.

 

Day 5: Now trek from Ghora Lotani to Bhagwabasa about 2km. After taking a rest, this whole day will spend climbing altitude 12,500ft. Trek early in the morning at a high altitude to reach early in the Bharwabasa. The mountain of Kalu Vinayak is windy so you have to step slowly and carefully. After half hour you will arrive at Kalu Vinayak. From Kalu, the Vinayak route is about 2km.

 

Day 6: Finally trek from Bhagwabasa to Roopkund Lake. The day will start at 5:00 am early morning. The distance of Bhagwabasa to Roopkund lake is three and a half hours. Once you reach the Roopkund you will find the marvel at the Lake.
