(According to Skandpuran) Uttarakhand is divided into two divisions first is Garhwal division (Kedar Khand) and the second is Kumoun division (Manas Khand). The former name of Uttarakhand was Uttaranchal, which was formed on 9 November 2000. From 2000 to 2006 it was known as Uttaranchal. Before 2000, it was a part of Uttar Pradesh. After 2000, the state of Uttarakhand was made the 27th state of the Republic of India.

Uttarakhand has 13 districts and Tehri Garhwal is one of them. It is one of the most famous tourist places in Uttarakhand. Tehri Garhwal is basically surrounded by 4 districts of Uttarakhand namely Uttarkashi (north), Rudraprayag (east), Pauri Garhwal (southern portion), and Dehradun (western portion). Tehri is known as Ganeshprayagi in Puranas and Dhanush Teerth in Kedarkhand. Tehri is merged with India on 1 August 1949, then on 24th February 1960, some part of Tehri was carved out to form Uttarkashi district. After that in 1997, some part of Tehri, some part of Chamoli and some part of Pauri Garhwal was carved out to form the Rudraprayag district.

Tehri Dam In New Tehri (Tehri Garhwal)

Tehri Dam is a primary and important dam for Tehri development purposes which is located in Tehri district of Uttarakhand state. This dam is built on two important rivers of the Himalayas, one of which is the Bhagirathi, a major tributary of the river Ganges and the other is the Bhilangana river, at the confluence of which this dam has been built. It is the tallest and largest dam in India. The height of Tehri Dam is 261meters which makes it the fifth tallest dam in the world and it is also the tallest dam in Asia. It is built on the Bhagirathi river at a height of 260.5 meters. Tehri Dam is the eighth largest dam in the world, which is used for irrigation and electricity generation. This dam is known as Swami Ramtirtha Sagar Dam and it is also known as Suman Sagar. Tehri dam is an embankment dam.  Electricity generation started in the Tehri Dam project on 30th july 2006.

Tehri Dam project work is divided into three phases-

Tehri Dam and Water Power Project- This project of 1000 megawatt was dedicated to the nation on July 30, 2006.

Tehri Pump & Storage Plant-This project of 1000 MW is justified.

Dobra Chanti Bridge In New Tehri (Tehri Garhwal)

Dobra Chanti Bridge is the most special bridge in itself because it is situated on Tehri dam & Tehri lake, apart from this it is the longest single-lane motorable suspension bridge in India. The construction work of the Dobra Chanti Bridge started in 2006 and it was completed in 2010. On 8th November 2020, this bridge was inaugurated by the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat. It is a very beautiful place for tourists to visit. Measurement of this bridge-

Chamba is a small town and a famous hill station in Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Deval Sari Mahadev Temple In New Tehri (Tehri Garhwal)

One of the famous temples of Uttarakhand is Deval Sari Mahadev Temple, situated on the hills of New Tehri. This Temple is about 200 years old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, due to the absence of Jaleri, not half but the entire circumambulation of this temple is done. There are three small, two medium & one main temple complex in which a huge Shivling and behind it the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh are installed. It is a belief about the Deval Sari Mahadev Temple that no one has been able to know the secret of where the water offered on the Shivling of the temple drains. According to the traditions that have been going on since ancient times, even today the priest of the temple himself offers the water brought by the devotees to the Shivling.

Tehri Lake In New Tehri (Tehri Garhwal)

Tehri Lake was constructed as the construction of Tehri Dam, involved of the world’s biggest dams, which is also known as Suman Sagar. Tehri lake is the largest man-made lake in entire Asia & its area is spread up to 42sq. meter & its depth is 200 meters. Every year a large number of tourists come here to visit this lake which is most famous for water sports activities. The best time to visit Tehri Lake is in the month of April to June. Water sports activities in this lake are starting from 9:00 am (morning) to 6:00 pm (evening). There is a proper arrangement of food (breakfast, lunch, dinner)& toilets here. There are many types of water sports activities are done in Tehri Lake such as JET SKIING, FKYBOARDING, KNEE BOARDING, BANANA RIDE, SURFING, MOTOR BOATING, ROWING, HOT-AIR-BALLOONING, and CANOEING, etc.
