Location of pindari glacier trek:-  kumaon Himalaya, Bageswer district, Uttarakhand.

Pindari glacier is situated at an altitude of 3353m above the sea level in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. Kafni  glacier is situated to right of pindari glacier with route diverting from dwari. Kafni glacier is situated at an elevation of 3860 above the sea level.

This glacier is situated to the southern of enchanting sister peaks, Nanda devi and Nanda kot. Melt ice water of glacier  flow to the south for a short distance 3km. The glacier is about 0.25km in the breadth and give rise to pindar river.

 

Best time to visit pindari glacier trek :-

In Summer:- (march to June)

The best time to go for trekking as trekkers can easily brave the weather.

In monsoon :- (June to September)

During the monsoon season, the trails closed, and trekkers should strictly avoid because of heavy rain.

In spring :- (September to October)

Trekkers can expect pleasant weather during the spring season.

In winter :-(October to march)

The temp can drop to -100c, thus there is a possibility of snowfall due to which the roads remain closed.

 How to reach pindari glacier trek:-

First you reach kathgodam from different different places –

By Air :-  The nearest airport to kathgodam is pantnagar airport which is located at a distance of 32km from kathgodam. The airport is connected to Delhi by 4 round-the-clock flights per week. Taxi and cab easily available from the airport to kathgodam.

By Train :-  There are 3 train running from new Delhi to kathgodam in north India. The journey includes trevel through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh , Uttarakhand and other states. The sky will remain clear for a few days. Kathgodam experience a temperature of 200c which can drop to 150c at night. The route in Uttarakhand is full of scenic beauty the state to passes through the state to reach kathgodam.

By Road :- busses are easily available from Delhi, Dehradun, chandigarh to kathgodam.

Your trek to this pindari glacier starts from a small village called loharkhet, which is 20km from bageswer district. After crossing a series of remote places like Dhakuri, Dwari and Furkiya, you will touch the final destination of the trek, Zero point .

The path leading to the glacier through rhododendron forest, transverse with the southern forest of the nanda devi sanctuary, offers impressive view of peaks such as panwali dwar(6,683m) and mactoli(6,803m).
