History Of the Old Route to Kedarnath Temple

The old route was started from Gaurikund via Rambara road, a total of 14 km walking distance to Kedarnath temple across the beautiful road jungle market during this route. This route completed damaged during the flood in 2013. So, the route completed close from that time till now. The new trek route starts from sonprayag in the district of Rudraprayag which devotes comes from a whole part of the world. This new trek is constructed because the old route was completed shut down and never open after the 2013 flood.  the old route is very beautiful and situated in the market area. The many hotels and restaurants are situated there and within walking distance of the main temple. The New Route to Kedarnath Temple.

This route maintains and constructed by NIM ( Nehru Institute of mountaineering) and Kedarnath Temple. This new path is opened because the old path is completely damaged and cannot be opened. Kedarnath dam is open after the Akshay Tritya ( April-may ) every year. The Kedarnath dam is closed on the last week of Kartik, on the day of Bhai dooj ( October-November) and the Kedarnath is reopened.
