HISTORY OF NARSINGH DEVTA TEMPLE JOSHIMATH UTTARAKHAND
This is a very ancient temple of Lord Vishnu of Narasimha avatar and with it, this temple is also the main temple of Joshimath. It is believed that the idol of Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar in this temple was installed by Shankaracharya himself with his own hands.
According to some beliefs, it is believed that the idol is installed in this temple. His right hand is getting thinner which is as thin as a hair and the day this hand breaks it is believed that on that day Jai Vijay who comes on the way to Badrinath will unite both the mountains and the God of Badrinath temple.
Badrinath will disappear from the present temple and appear as the black stone Shaligram. Bhavishya Badri is located at a distance of at least 10 kilometers from Joshimath. When Badrinath temple is closed during winters like every year, an idol of Lord Badrinath is brought to Lord Narasimha temple and installed and worshiped for 6 months.

Narasimha Devta Temple is also known by different names such as Jyotirmath Joshimath Narasimha Badri. Narasimha Badri Temple Lord Narasimha is the fourth incarnation of Shri Maha Vishnu. Who had incarnated to kill Hiranyakashipu to protect the devotee Prahlad and protected his devotee Prahlad. Narsingh Devta Temple is located in Joshimath of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
