Introduction of Naimisharanya Temple in Sitapur:-

Naimisharanya temple is one of the 108 Divya territories. It is a holy place abodes by Lord Vishnu, which is glorified by the Azhar saints in their Tamil Chants. Also referred to as Nimsar or Nimkhar, it is located on the left side of the bank of the river Gomati in the Sitapur district of the state of Uttar Pradesh. Deva Raja is the presiding King there, and Pundarika Valli is his consort. This is also the 8 shrine “Swayamvyaktha Kshetra” where Lord Vishnu had self-manifested himself. There are several explanations are given for the place of Naimisharanya. The term Naimisharyana is said to be connected with Lord Vishnu’s Chakra weapon. “Nemi” refers to the round circle of the wheel, and ‘Sharanya’ refers to the Chakra where it fell.

Apart from this ‘Nimisha’ also denotes a short span of time, and the last term ‘Aranya’ refers to forest and greenery. It is said that Lord Vishnu killed many demons in that forest area with his own Chakra almost instantly, within a short duration of time. Moreover, there are several container tanks present in the Naimisharanya temple called Chakra Kunda, which was named after the weapon of the Lord Vishnu, this place was also said to be a dense forest. This place receives a lot of people from various parts of the country and state. People usually stay in Vishwanath Palace which is quite near the Namisharanya Temple and the view there is very fascinating. History of Naimisharanya Temple:-

Once Lord Indra, the King of the heavens was defeated by the demon Vrittasura, and seized his Kingdom. Lord Indra and the Devas took refuge against Lord Vishnu, who told them to design a unique weapon made of the bones of sage Dadhichi, who also fought with Demons. The great sage Dadhichi agreed to give his bones and thus, he also sacrificed his life for their sake, and in the end, he wished to bathe in all the holy rivers before giving up on his life and body. Lord Indra is said to have immediately brought all the sacred waters to Naimisharanya so that the sage of God fulfilled his last wish, and at the last, he gave up his life. The weapon(Vajrayudha) was made by Lord Indra from his backbone, defeated Vrittasura, and regained his Kingdom.

The architecture of the Naimisharyana Temple:-

The Naimisharanya Temple is more famous for its fascinating carvings, inscriptions, and beautiful meaningful stucco images. There are some shrines here for Lord Chakranaranyana, Lord Rama, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Lakshmana. All the water that is required for venerating the Sculpture of Gods of the Deity and worship is drawn from there.

The temple tank Naimisharanya Temple Tirth or Chakra Kunda is found as an extremely holy place with mystical powers.The principal deity here is said to preside all over the forest, and all of the prayers and rituals are performed in the forest.

Temple Festivals which are celebrated in Naimisharanya Temple (Sitapur):-

On Amavasya, the new Moon days are regarded as sacred, on that day people large amount of people take a holy dip in the tank filled with water as they think that by doing this all past sins will be removed. Many other festivals are celebrated there with all the piety are Navaratri and Durga Pooja. The temple carnival is also an important festival that is celebrated there by devotees who come from other states and other countries. The Government of Uttar Pradesh is also supporting many such activities of free mass feeding which is quite common there among the people.

Naimisharayana is known as an ideal place that was blessed by the Gods to get liberation in the Kali Yuga. Moreover, it is believed by the people there that the one who performs all the chants and penance for more than 12 years can attain Moksha and Salvation. Additionally, many devotees come here to remove ignorance and get happiness in their lives.
