History of  Temple

The history of the Mansa Devi temple dates back to the 18th century. It is said that the temple was built by Maharaja Gopal Das Singh of Manimajra in 1811-1815. it is said that where the Mata Mansa Devi temple stands today, a part of Sati Mata’s head fell. This temple was initially known as the temple of Mata Sati. King Gopal Das from Manimajra built a cave connecting his fort to the temple, stretching about 3 kilometers. every day, the king and his queen would visit Mother Sati through this cave. As long as they came, the temple doors stayed closed. But if the king didn’t show up, the temple doors wouldn’t open.
