On April 15, 1948, the two princely states of Mandi and Suket merged to become the Mandi district. You must travel approximately 30 kilometers by car or bus taxi to Sonprayag after arriving in Guptkashi. From Sonprayag, you must take a taxi or drive 6 km to Gaurikund. After that, you must walk or ride a horse 16 km to Kedarnath. Note – You can’t take the vehicle after Gaurikund, after that you have to walk 16 km, those who can’t walk can go by palki or horse ride.
