About Kedarnath
Kedarnath temple is a one of the most ancient temple present in India, belonged to Lord Shiva. It is located in the near the Mandakini river in Rudraprayag district of Indian state Uttarakhand. The temple is one of the Chardhams of Northern Himalayas, alongwith Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri. How to travel from Malerkotla to Kedarnath?
Malerkotla to Kedarnath via Own Car
If you are planning to travel to Kedarnath by your own car, then the total distance to travel is 510 km. You can start you travel journey from Malerkotla -> Patiala -> Kurukshetra -> Ladwa -> Saharanpur -> Bhagwanpur -> Bahadarabad -> Haridwar -> Rishikesh -> Devprayag -> Srinagar -> Rudraprayag -> Agustyamuni -> Guptkashi -> Sonprayag -> Gaurikund -> Kedarnath.
Malerkotla to Kedarnath via Bus
Since, there is no direct bus from Malerkotla to Kedarnath. So, if you prefer a journey by bus, you have to take a bus to Chandigarh first. From there, you will get a direct bus to Dehradun. Once you reach Dehradun, you can go for the option of a cab or a bus (easily available) to reach Sonprayag. Then, take a bus or taxi for Gaurikund, 5 km away from Sonprayag. The ride will take probably 15 to 20 minutes. This is the last road head to the temple, the trek route of 16 km starts from Gaurikund.
Depends upon your physical health condition and how the weather is, the trekking generally may take 6 to 8 hours. But you can go for helicopter or pony service, in case you are not able to trek such long distance.

Weather Conditions in Kedarnath Region
Kedarnath temple opens only for 6 months, and the remaining 6 months of the year it remains closed. During summer season, the temperature varies from 10°C to 20° C. During winter season, the cold in hilly area leads to heavy snowfall. May to June or September to October is the best time to visit the temple. It is recommended not to visit during monsoon, because rain continues to a high level that leads to landslides and floods.

- Avoid to visit there during monsoon season. The area is prone to floods and landslides due to heavy rain conditions in hilly area.
