History of Kartik Swami temple

Kartik swami temple is devoted to Lord Shiva’s senior child, Kartikeya, This Hindu temple is built at a height of 3050 m in Rudraprayag state of Uttarakhand. According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Shiva tested his children Ganesha and Kartikeya that who will initially take seven rounds of the universe. Hearing that, Kartikeya took off the circle of universe on his vehicle, though, Ganesha took seven rounds of his Parent’s, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva provided him honor of being worship first. As result, Kartikeya showed Angered on the choice and committed his body to his father Lord Shiva.

How to reach?

  • By Bus-The most convenient way to get to Kartik Swami temple is to take a bus from Haridwar / Rishikesh to Rudraprayag. Kartik Swami temple is just 40kms from Rudraprayag- Pokhari course.
  • By road- You can enlist a taxi to Kanak Chauri. Highway transports from ISBT, Delhi to Rudraprayag, Rishikesh and Srinagar are moreover
  • By Air- The closest air terminal from the spot is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun which is around 192 km away from the spot. One can board a taxi from the air terminal to arrive at Rudraprayag.

Weather during seasons

Summer- The mid-year season here starts in April and proceeds till June. The normal temperature of the top in summer changes from 15°C to 20°C.

Monsoon-The entire stated face heavy rainfall during the month of July and September  heavy rainfall makes trekking very difficult.

Winter- The period of October is the beginning of winter season here which keeps going till March. November to January offers the reasonable and great perspective of snow. Also, the temperature during these months goes from 0°C to 10°C. Try to wear warm woolen garments when you visit the temple during winter.
