Introduction of Narayan Koti temple

Narayan Koti temple is one of the famous and ancient temples in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is also known as dev Bhoomi due to many deities residing here and is very well known for its famous temple. Narayan indicates (Lord Vishnu) and Koti indicates (many). This temple belongs to lord Vishnu and was established in the 9th century, it’s a group of temples or samuh of temples that was beautifully architect. It’s also famous for representing the 9 planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Sun, Moon, Rahu, and Ketu) and it’s the only temple that represents 9 planets in the world.

Narayan Koti temple the famous temple of Uttarakhand holds the story behind it. This temple was constructed by Pandavas, Pandavas refers to the five brothers, Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sachadeva and who won the Mahabharata war. It’s believed that in this location Lord Krishna revealed his one crore Naryana forms to the Pandavas when they were apoplectic to not met Lord Shiva. The temple is still here from the 9th century and in today’s time, you will rarely get such things that’s why devotees love to visit here.

From Rishikesh, it took 5 hr 21 min and from Dehradun, it took 6 hr 9 min to visit this temple. Both Rishikesh and Dehradun is the only road route to reach this temple.

Road Route: From Dehradun, Rishikesh you can travel to Narayan Koti Temple, Guptkashi, and Rudraprayag easily by bus, taxi, and two vehicles. 

Air Route: People across India and from across the world can easily visit Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun by catching their area’s flight and from Jolly grant airport you can easily get an auto and can book a cab for Rishikesh and Dehradun. You can get a vehicle for the Narayan Koti temple after reaching Rishikesh and Dehradun.

Railway Route: People across India can reach Haridwar and Dehradun railway stations through their area’s train. After that you can take a taxi, bus or auto from the station to reach Dehradun and Rishikesh, it’s your choice to take a bus to Dehradun or Rishikesh both are fine. After reaching Rishikesh and Dehradun you easily get vehicle for the Narayan Koti Temple.

With this project, our Ministry of Culture’s motive is to live this ancient heritage of the temple.
