One can easily go via trains, flights, or buses.

BY TRAIN

There is no facility for the train to Kedarnath. Rishikesh railway station is the nearest railway station. From there you can hire a taxi or can travel by bus.

BY FLIGHT

The nearest airport to Kedarnath is Jolly grant airport in Dehradun.

You can take a taxi or a bus for further journeys. The flight from Dehradun to Kedarnath can be booked using a helicopter as well.

BY ROAD

The total distance from Chhindwara to Kedarnath is 1354 km. This distance can be traveled by road in 23 hrs. Either book a taxi directly from Chhindwara to Kedarnath or take public transport.

NOTE: Gauri Kund is the last vehicle stop, from here you have to trek for about 16 km. If someone is not able to walk, they can hire a pony ride or palki for the same. You can also take the helicopter service.

BEST TIME TO VISIT KEDARNATH TEMPLE

October to March is the ideal season to visit Kedarnath Temple. The month of October is considered to be the best month to visit the temple as the temperature is neither too cold nor too hot during this season. The best time to visit Kedarnath Temple also depends on the merit of the Shukla paksha (lunar cycle). During the period of Ashwini Shukla paksha (lunar cycle), Kedarnath Temple is considered to be the best place to visit as it is believed that Lord Shiva stays here during this period.

  • Carry woolen clothes, as the weather, there is cold at night and morning.
