About Chandrabadni Temple in Devprayag
As you know that Uttarakhand is known as the land of God (devbhomi). It is located in the northern part of India. The formed name of uttarakhand was Uttaranchal, which was formed on 9 november 2000. From 2000 to 2006 it was known as Uttaranchal. Before its formation in 2000, it was a part of Uttar Pradesh. After many years of agitation, the state of uttarakhand was made the 27th state of the Republic of India. This temple is a holy hindu shrine which is located in a tiny hamlet called Jamnikhal, Devprayag, district of Uttarakhand. Chandrabadni temple is most wonderful, very ancient and very famous temple of devi sati. This temple is open throughout the year.
History of Chandrabadni Temple Devprayag
Chandrabadni temple is one of the 51 shaktipeeths of goddess Sati established in India. This Shaktipeeth is also mentioned in texts like Skanda Puran, Devi Bhagwat and also in Mahabharat.The history of Maa Chandrabadni is mainly related to the same event that when king Daksh organized a grand yagya in Kankhal, which is now known as Haridwar, in which he invited all the deities except Mahadev and his consort mother Sati. Even after Lord Shankar’s refusal, Goddess Sati went there and could not bear the humiliation of Lord Shiva and being saddened by this, she jumped into the Havan kund and abandoned her body, after that when Lord Shankar put her burnt body in a trident. The body of Goddess Sati had fallen here when she was being carried, after which the Shaktipeeth was built at this place and it is famous today as Maa Chandrabadni Temple.

Fair and festival in Chandrabadni Temple Devprayag
Once in the temple worship is performed in a mysterious manner in which the priest is blindfolded. Festivals like Chetra Navratri , Ashwini Navratri , Dussehra , Deepawali are celebrated with great reverence. Every year in the month of April , a fair is organized in the temple in which thousands of tourists and devotees visit the temple.

Local belief- It is believed that the devotees who come here with true devotion to see the mother or her mandir, the mother fulfills all their wishes.
Story- Mother is worshiped in the form of Shri yantra in the temple premises, here the body of Goddess Sati had fallen, that is why one cannot seen idol of the goddess, here only the Shri Yantra can be seen, that is why the priests of the temple also trying a bandage on itself eyes when they bathes the Maa. But by trying a bandage, she bathes the mother. It is a folk belief that once a priest had tried to see the idol alone out of ignorance, after which the priest became blind, since then the priest here only blindfolded the idol, worshiped and bathed etc.

Nearest Bus stand from temple is in Devprayag which is 34 kms and the second nearest bus stand is in rishikesh. •After reaching there you have to take taxi or local transport to cover the remaining distance to the temple and 1-2km trek is stating from the taxi stand.

Best time to visit in Chandrabadni Temple Devprayag
Although you can visit this holy place in any season but the best time to visit here is from June to October. As the mandir is situated on top of a mountain, hence one should avoid coming here during the monsoon season. If you like fairs and festival so you can also come here in the month of April (fair) and October (Dussehra).
