History of Champawat Uttarakhand

The former name of champawat was champawati because the location of this town on the banks of champawati steam. Champawat was former capital of the Chand Dynasty of Kumaon. And there is a temple called BALESHWAR TEMPLE was built in the 12^th century by the Chand dynasty rulers.
