Introduction

One of the famous tourist attractions in Dehradun is the Buddha temple. The Buddha Temple is the most visited place in Dehradun. The temple is located in clement town.

The temple is additionally called “Mindrolling Monastery”.

History:

The Monastery was founded in 1965 by Kochen Rinpoche, Kyabje Paltrul, Jampel Lodoe, and Khochhen Rinpoche. They visited Dehradun and selected a land wherein they built Mindrolling Monastery. Kochen Rinpoche was welcomed from Darjeeling.

The Monastery presently has Ngagyur Nyingma College, which is one of the largest Buddhist institutes in India.

How to reach Buddha Temple:

To arrive at Buddha Temple, one can take any method of transport like private vehicles, public transport, or shared taxis. They all will take you to Buddha  you don’t have to stroll as the parking is available just outside the temple.

From the Airport:

Summer

8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

12 p.m. – 2 p.m. (Lunch break, the area will open but the Shrine Rooms would be closed)

Once you have visited the temple you can go around the local shops near the temple.

There are several shops near the Temple for shop for souvenirs

There are several shopping stores close to Buddha Temple where you can search for a shop for traditional Tibetans or western outfits.
