Bineshwar Mahadev Temple also known as Bindeshwar is a 16th-century A.D. temple dedicated to lord Shiva Temple. This ancient temple was built during the reign of Raja Kalyan Chand of the famous Chand Dynasty. Interestingly, the toy town of Binsar which used to be the summer capital of the Chand Dynasty was named after this temple. Bineshwar Mahadev Temple falls en route to binsar wildlife sanctuary as it is one of the resting points for tourists. Bineshwar Mahadev Temple very popular temple of this region. Bineshwar Mahadev Temple has an amazing archaeology. A fair is organized there every year on Vaikunth Chaturdashi.

 

History & Mythology of Bineshwar Mahadev Temple Binsar

It was believed that Bineshwar Mahadev Temple was built by Maharaja Prithu in the memory of his father, Bindhu at the time of 9th and 10th century. Exact details of this temple is not cleared. But the design of Bineshwar Mahadev resembles that made by katyuri. There are no records but it was yet believed that it was a contemporary of Jageshwar & Adi-badri group of the temples. According to one of the legends it is believed that Bineshwar Mahadev Temple made by Pandavas in one night while they were on exile. The other famous legends it is believed that Bineshwar Mahadev Temple was made by Bindu. Some also believe that Bineshwar Mahadev Temple was built by Lord Vishwakarma himself.
