Kedarkantha is easily one of the most popular treks in India, located at 12,500 ft above sea level. This hike starts from Sankari village and has a total distance of 20 km. It is known for its summit climb, and the big mountain views are popular among beginners. It is also the most popular winter trek in India. Yet, Kedarkantha has a lot more to it than the winter shades of white and blue. It is one of the most colorful treks you’ll do, especially for the forests and clearings in the forests. The summit climb takes on a different hue too. Kedarkantha is perhaps more beautiful in the summer and spring seasons than it is in winter. We know the Kedarkantha trek people see it as a winter trek, and that’s how most of our country sees it, but very, frankly speaking, the real beauty of the Kedarkantha trek is in the summer and spring seasons from March–July. The weather is pleasant all day and night. You will notice shades of color as you climb up and a large green grassy area. The sky will blow your mind as you can see a light blue sky above you with a clear view of the mountains around you. At the top of the peak, one can experience true nature from above with a large area of grassland, forest, and blue sky with the bright sun during the day and a black sparkling galaxy at night. The best season to visit Kedarnath is summer, when the temperature is moderate and stays between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Kedarkantha during March-April:
In March and April, the temperature in Kedarkatha ranges from -2 to 10 degrees Celsius. At this time, the snow covering the Kedarkantha Trek peaks starts to shed off during April. It is considered one of the easiest treks this month. There is no snow at the base camp, but there may be snow on the mountain peaks.
Kedarkantha during May-June:
In May and June, the weather in Kedarkantha is pleasant with a 5 to 20-degree temperature. At this time, the snow starts to melt from the top of the mountain and you can see beautiful flora and fauna all around the trek of Kedarkantha. It’s worth mentioning that at the end of this month, you may not be ready to see any snow. Trekking throughout June is comparatively easy, so if you’re a first-time trekker, this might be the proper month to travel on a trekking expedition to Kedarkantha.
Kedarkantha during September and October:
From September to October, the nights may get chilly, but the weather is perfect for trekking during the day. The entire trek route is coated with a blanket of green. There’s no snow or rain to trouble you or create mounting difficulties. The Kedarkantha trek in September is ideal for first-time trekkers.
The Kedarkantha trek Sankari is accessible for almost 10 months of the year except for July and August (the peak rainy months in Uttarakhand).
