History of Chakrata Uttarakhand:

According to Jaunsari Tribe this area was influenced by them and is also known as Jaunsar Bawar. This territory was once ruled by king of Sirmour, and later by Gorkhas and then by Britishers. Currently Chakrata is now a part of Indian Army cantonment.

Chakrata hill station is approx. 85 km from Dehradun and 335 km from Delhi. There are various modes of transportation available to reach Chakrata-

By Air: The nearest Airport is Jolly Grant Airport of Dehradun which is approx. 245kms far from the destination. After landing at Dehradun further journey is done by roadways.

By Train: Dehradun is the nearest railway station (Nandadevi Express, Dehradun Express etc) to this trek and further distance is covered by roadways.

By Road: It is well connected with different roads. Although it is difficult to find a direct bus from Delhi but one can easily avail direct bus from Dehradun.
