According to mythology, after the battle of Kurukshetra, the Pandavas of Mahabharata traveled to Varanasi to seek the Lord’s blessings because they had killed their own relatives. Lord Shiva, on the other hand, dodged them and hid in Guptakashi. As they approached, Lord took the decision to crawl underground and become invisible. Bhima, one of the five Pandavas, made a valiant effort to stop him by grasping the bull’s legs and tail. Unfortunately, the Lord dove and vanished at that location, leaving just his hump to be worshipped at Kedarnath.
