About Har Ki Dun

Har Ki Doon is a valley located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India that is shaped like a cradle. It is surrounded by beautiful green meadows called Bugyals, and has plenty of snow-covered peaks and alpine vegetation. You can get there from the Baspa Valley by crossing the Borasu Pass. The valley is about 11,700 feet above sea level and is usually snow-covered from October to March.

How to reach Har ki Dun Valley?

one must travel 200 kilometres from dehradun to the charming village of sankri in order to complete the har ki doon trek. Then the following day, from sankri, you can take a taxi or a jeep to taluka.

Then you can begin your journey from seema to Har ki Doon.

There are several modes of transportation available to reach sankri  from Dehradun

By Road: from Dehradun every morning between 6 and 10 am few buses depart from outside the dehradun railway station for sankri. you can also take a cab from dehradun to sankri  it will take just 7-8 hours to reach Sankri

By Air– If you are flying in from Delhi or any other city, the closest airport near to Har ki Doon Trek  is Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport. You will then need to book/rent a bus or taxi for Sankri And taluka To reach Har ki Doon trek

By train- If you are travelling by train, we recommend that you book your tickets to the Dehradun railway station directly. From there, you’ll need to book/rent a bus/taxi to Sankri. Then book/rent a taxi to taluka.

marinda tal (also known as morinda tal) is a stunning high-altitude lake visible after passing through har ki doon valley. marinda tal is located at an elevation of approximately 3,970 metres and is visible from swargahrini peak. brahma kamal blooms around the lake during the peak season.these scenes provide a sense of calm, and this location is ideal for photographers. maninda tal’s path is lined with tall cedar and oak trees. the region has a diverse range of flora and fauna. every moment of your trip will be remembered by the gentle chirping of birds and panoramic views of your surroundings.

 JAUNDHAR GLACIER :

The Jaundhar Glacier, also known as Jamdhar Glacier, is one of the major sources of the Tons River, which is the greatest tributary of the Yamuna. It rises majestically to a remarkable altitude of 4300m. The trip to this magnificent glacier, which is 13 kilometres away from Har ki Dun, takes about 7-8 hours. Only a select few people are given the chance to walk on a glacier or even just see it up close. But Jaundhar offers the chance to experience it all.

Things to Carry-

  • Bring warm, waterproof clothing because it will be very cold there.
  • Because high altitude can cause headaches, you must take basic medications such as paracetamol.
  • since the hike will be challenging and hilly, you should bring a decent pair of trekking shoes.
  • you can travel with some glucose packets or electrodes. you will benefit greatly in terms of energy during your adventure.
  • A few packets of ORS to keep you hydrated
  • a quality pair of gloves to keep your hands from getting too cold.
  • Keep a good quality sleeping bag on hand for camping.
