Kaak Bhusandi

About kaak bhusandi

Kaak Bhusandi Ji narrated his own story to Garuda which is as follows. In an earlier Kalpa, the time of Kali Yuga was going on. At the same time, Kaak Bhushundi Ji was born in the house of a Shudra in Ayodhya Puri. At that birth, he was a devotee of Lord Shiva but proudly used to criticize other gods. Once there was a famine in Ayodhya, he went to Ujjain. There he served a kind Brahmin and started living with him. Those brahmins were great devotees of Lord Shankar but never used to criticize Lord Vishnu. He gave the mantra of Shiva to that Shudra. His pride increased even more after receiving the mantra. He became jealous of other dvijas and became hostile to Lord Vishnu. His guru (those brahmins) was very sad due to this behavior of his used to preach to him the devotion of Shri Ram.

Once that Shudra insulted his guru, the Brahmin with whom he lived, in the temple of Lord Shankar. On this Lord Shankar cursed him by giving Akashvani that O sinners! You have disrespected the Guru, so you go into the inferior vagina of the snake and after the snake vagina, you have to take birth in many vaginas 1000 times. The Guru was very kind, so he praised Shiva and prayed for forgiveness for his disciple. Upon the Guru’s apology, Lord Shankar said in Akashvani, “O brahmin! My curse will not go in vain. This Shudra will surely have to take 1000 births, but the sorrow and pain that comes with being born and dying will not happen to him or anyone else. Its knowledge will not be erased even at birth. It will remain in the memory of its every birth, it will not find anything rare in the world and it will have uninterrupted movement everywhere, by my grace, it will also get devotion towards the feet of Lord Shri Ram.

History of Kaak Bhusandi in Ramcharitmanas

When Ravana’s son Meghnath tied Shriram to Nagpasha while fighting with Shriram, then at the behest of Devarshi Narada, Giddharaj Garuda freed Shri Ram from the bondage of Nagpasha by eating all the serpents of Nagpasha. When Lord Rama got tied in this way, Garuda got suspicious about Shri Ram being God. To clear Garuda’s doubts about  Devarshi Narada sends him to Brahmaji. Brahmaji sends them to Shankarji. Lord Shankar also sent Garuda to Kakabhushundiji to clear his doubts. In the end, Kaak Bhushundi Ji cleared Garuda’s doubts by narrating the holy story of Rama’s character.

Valmiki Ramayana is paramount among the Ramakathas which were written after Vedic literature. Valmiki was a contemporary of Shri Ram and wrote the Ramayana when Rama was coronated after Ravana was killed. One day he was walking in the forest with sage Bharadwaj and saw the heart-wrenching incident of a tiger killing the Krauncha bird, and a verse burst from his mind. This is where the inspiration for writing this story came from.
