Due to this people are facing problems. The process of rain and snowfall is continuing in the district since last Tuesday afternoon. Due to the continuous rain and snowfall, the villages situated at an altitude of up to one thousand feet have been covered with snow.
Gangotri Highway is completely closed from Sukki Top, Harshil, Dharali and Bhairav Ghati to Gangotri due to snowfall. Due to which the movement of vehicles has come to a complete halt. Along with this, the Sankari Jakhol motor road of Mori area including Harshil-Mukhba, Payara-Jhala, Jaspur-Purali and Kamad-Ayarkhal, has been closed due to snowfall. Due to this the life of the people has been completely affected.
Snowfall at many places in Chamoli including Badrinath
Many high altitude places of Chamoli including Badrinath, Hemkund are covered with snow. One and a half to 2 feet snow has accumulated in Badrinath. Snow continues on both sides of the highway beyond Hanuman Chatti. More than three dozen villages of the district have been affected by the snowfall. Public life has been badly affected. Mandal Chopta motorway has been blocked due to snowfall.Since late Tuesday night in the district, the process of rain in the low-lying areas and snowfall in the higher areas continued on Wednesday as well. 15 km ahead on the Mandal Chopta motorway, the road has been blocked due to excessive snowfall near Pargargarvasa. The Superintendent of Police’s office has informed that the passengers have been appealed to stop the movement of vehicles till the weather is fine. The police administration says that the motorway has been blocked due to excessive snowfall.
Snowfall and rain increased the cold in the mountain

Heavy snowfall cut off 12 villages in Changsheel Valley
Heavy snowfall continues in the Changsheel Valley of Mori. Villagers of 12 villages of Kwar tehsil of Himachal Pradesh have been cut off from the valley due to disruption of Dodra-Kwar motorway due to excessive snowfall in Changsheel valley, bordering Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh. Since last Tuesday morning, snowfall continues in Mori, the border areas of Uttarakhand and Rohdu, Dodra, Kwar and adjoining valleys of Himachal Pradesh. Snow up to 2 feet in Changsheel Valley by evening.
