There is a temple located in Jasoli village, Dandakhal area, this temple is known as Mata Hariyali Devi. Mythology says that when ‘Mahamaya’ was born as the seventh child of Devaki’s mother, ‘Kans’ wanted to kill Mahamaya by slamming her to the earth. After this the pieces of Mahamaya Mata’s body were scattered all over the earth. Mahamaya’s hand fell in this area and this place came to be known as Hariyali Siddha Peeth. Every year a three-day fair is organized here on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami and two days on the occasion of Deepawali. During this, the mother takes the Doli of Hariyali to ‘Hariyali Kantha’ at a distance of 7 km. It is believed that the mother keeps the entire Devbhoomi green from here. During this time, devotees of the mother come here from abroad and country.

Maa Hariyali Devi Temple, situated at an altitude of about 1400 meters above sea level, is surrounded by Himalayan ranges. Maa Hariyali Devi Temple is one of the 58 Siddhpeeth temples in the country. The deities of the temple are known as Sita Mata, Bala Devi and Vaishno Devi. In the temple there are idols of Goddess Hariyali Devi as well as Kshatrapal and Heat Devi. It is an important place to visit. Thousands of devotees come here on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami and Diwali.

According to Hindu mythology, when Mahamaya Devi was born as the seventh child of Devaki Mata and Vasudeva, Kansa tried to kill Mahamaya Devi by slamming her to the ground. As soon as Kansa threw Mahamaya Devi on the ground, the pieces of her body were scattered all over the earth. It is believed that Mahamaya Devi’s hand fell in a village called Jasoli, hence this place is considered to be one of the 58 Siddhapeeths. Later Hariyali Devi Temple was constructed here.
It is held twice in a year
There is a belief about the construction of the fair temple that it was constructed during the time of Adi Shankaracharya. However, since then the temple has been renovated several times. The basic decoration of the temple is done with vermillion and yellow colors, which are considered very sacred in Hinduism. Every year a fair for three days on Krishna Janmashtami and two days on Diwali is held in the temple of Maa Hariyali Devi. A large number of devotees come here during this time. On Diwali, the doli of Maa Hariyali is taken to Hariyali Kantha, seven kilometers away. All the devotees participating in this yatra stop consuming meat, alcohol, egg, onion and garlic a week in advance. Only male devotees take part in the yatra.
