The Dhwaj Temple is a prominent Lord Shiva and Goddess Jayanti temple situated in foothills of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. It is one of the familiar pilgrimage in the city surrounded by the majestic views of Himalayas. The panoramic view of hills and snow caped mountains from this temple is mesmerizing. In addition, snow leopards and Himalayan black bears can also be seen. It lies at the distance of 10km from Pithoragarh city by road and one can also reach this temple by an easy hike of 4km that will take around 2hours to reach. Reaching the peak typically requires 1-1/2 to even 2 hours. But after all that work, the breathtaking view from the top and the bright skies on sunny days are justly the reward for the effort.

This scared place is situated at an altitude of 2100m above sea level. This place is one of the most famous attraction point of Pithoragarh and one of the sacred temples of uttarakhand.

How To Reach Dhwaj Temple

You can reach the temple by various transport facilities like by road ,air and train.

By Road: You can reach the temple by local busses or by personal taxis. Several public and private buses as well as taxi services operate between Haldwani, Delhi, and Dehradun. You can also reach the temple by trekking of 2 hours from Pithoragarh which will be around four to five kilometers.

By Railways: There is no railway station in Pithoragarh. The nearest railway station is located at Tanakpur which is at a distance of 138kms, from there you will have to take a taxi or a bus to reach Pithoragarh city.

By Air: You can also reach the city by taking a flight. The Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh, which is barely 10 kilometers from the temple, is the closest airport to Dhwaj Temple.
