About Kalindikhal Pass
Popularly famous as the mainly challenging kalindi trek of Garhwal Himalayas, Kalindikhal Pass Trek covers totality distance around 100 km. The Kalindi trek is considered the adventurous and most toughest trek of all Uttarakhand trek. Starting point of Kalindi trek is from Gangotri, and this tough trek ends at valley of Badrinath. Khalindi khal pass trek is not suitable for beginners trekkers and person needs to have some experience in mountaineering for this trek.
The trek is at an altitude of 6000 mtrs covering various small and mesmerizing natural lakes, breath taking snowfields, valleys, and rough glaciers. The trek covers ancient and blessed temple-like Gangotri and Badrinath.
History Kalindikhal Pass trek
Johan Bicknell Auden was born(14 Dec 1903 – 21 January 1991) he was a famous geologist and explorer, who worked in india for many years with the Geological Survey of India
mentioned in 1936 in survey report of his Garwhal himaliya
“A simple of 19,500ft in the east side of the south-east division of the Mana glacier, and in which saraswati valley is 4 miles to the east
but never climb it as he needed to come back the similar way to Gangotri. Swami Probodhanandawas, is inspired by Johan Bicknell Auden’s account, planned the first Indian journey to cross this pass. In 1945 journey was under the supervision of Swami Probodhananda and control of Dileep Singh who ascend the pass on July 22
Kalindi Khal Trek schedule
Day 01: Delhi to Rishikesh (around 250 km / 6 – 8 hours drive)
On your arrival at Delhi, meet up our tour agent and get move to Rishikesh, it takes 6 – 8 hours duration from Delhi to Rishkesh 230 km. Night stay will be at Rishikesh.
Day 02: Rishikesh to Uttarkashi ( around 150 km)
On the second day of your Khalindi khal Trek tour, from Rishikesh you drive to Uttarkashi by taxi covering around 150 km. for the night stay at Uttarkashi.
Day 03: Uttarkashi – Innerline permit
On the 3rd day you’ll, get the inner line permit for the entrance and the trek permit and Night stay at Uttarkashi.
Day 04: Uttarkashi to Gangotri (3050 meters / around 105 km / 5 hours)
On the fourth day, you’ll travel from Uttarkashi to Gangotri (3050 m). It will takes around 5 to 6 hours to complete 105 km. And then stay at Gangotri.
Day 05: Gangotri Stay
On 5th day you’ll get chance to visit Gangotri temple and then, settle down and relax at Gangotri. Overnight stay at Gangotri.
Day 06: Gangotri to Bhujbasa (3658m / 14 km trek / 5 hours)
On the 6 day, you’ll begin your khalandi khal trek tour from Gangotri to Bhujbasa (3658 meters) covering total 14 km around 5 hours. Home stay at Bhujbasa.
Day 07: Bhujbasa to Gaumukh (3900meters) – Tapovan (4,463m) (12 km trek / 4 to 5 hours)
On seventh day, from Bhujbasa, you’ll continue your khalindi khal pass trek to Gaumukh (3900 m) and more, from Gaurikund give way to khalindi trek to Tapovan (4463 m). generally, it takes 4- 5 hours to complete 12 km trek. Night stay is scheduled at Tapovan.
Day 08: Trek Tapovan to Nandan Van (4500m / 10 km)
On the eighth day of yours Kalindhi khal Pass trek tour, make yourself ready for 10 km trek from Tapovan to Nandan Van (4500 m). nightstay will be at Nanda Van.
Day 09: Nandanvan to Vasukital
Today, from Nanda Van continue your trek to Vasukital. There will be a tough trek passing just ahead of the lake where the Tourist guide will provide a rope for safety purposes. For mainly part of the trip you’ll have to climb upon the Chaturangi Glacier Home stay will be at Vasukital.
Day 10: Vasukital to Khara Pathar (5456meters / trek 4 -to 5 hours)
On the tenth day of your trek, you’ll continue your trek from Vasukital to Khara Pathar (5456 m). trek will take around 5 hours .. view the exciting network of mountains as you have to continue your trekking until you reach your destinationt Khara Pathar which is too circled by moraine. stay down your camps here and give up work for the night.
Day 11: Khara Pathar to Kalindikhal Base
On day eleventh, from Khara Pathar you trek to Kalindi khal base. Enjoy the peacefulness and natural beauty of this glamorous location. Overnight stay at Kalindikhal base-camp.
Day 12: Kalindikhal Base to Kalindi pass (5947m) – Rajparav (trek 5 to 6 hours)
Now start your trek from Kalindi khal base to Kalindi Pass (5947 m). when reaching Kalindi Pass, continue your further trek to Rajparav. You’ll get started with a trek through amazing environment, a set of connections of mountains and glaciers. After a four hour of tracking , you’ll reach the Kalindi khal base camp from where you can even hold view of the route lying in front till the mountain on clear day. You can stop here and assemble your camps while the guides will head out for a review on the remaining trek’s to discover the safest and easiest routes.Total, it takes around 5 to 6 hours to complete the whole trek. Night stay at Rajparav.
Day 13: Rajparav to Arwatal (6 hours trek)
On the thirteenth day of yours Kalindi khal pass trek tour, you carry on for 6 hours trek from Rajparav to Arwatal. Night stay at Arwatal.
Day 14: Arwatal to Ghastoli (trek 6 to 7 hours)
Today, you’ll continue your tracking and indulge in 6 to 7 hours trek from Arwatal to Ghastoli. Overnight stay at Ghastoli.
Day 15: Ghastoli to Mana (4 hours trek) – Badrinath (3133meters) (by road)
Continue your trek from Ghastoli to Mana, which takes around 4 hours to complete. As soon you will reach Mana, without delay drive to Badrinath (3133 m). Home stay at Badrinath.
Day 16: Badrinath to Joshimath (Visit Auli)
From Badrinath you travel to Joshimath village. To explorer the beauty of joshimath and then Sixteenth day is set out to explore Auli. stay at Auli.
Day 17: Joshimath to Rishikesh
Today, from Joshimath get drive to Rishikesh. night stay will be at Rishikesh.
Day 18: Rishikesh – Delhi
On the eighteenth and last day of your Kalindhi khal pass trek, from Rishikesh drive back to Delhi for your forwards journey.
