What’s New in Kedarnath Yatra 2023

Every year an enormous number of devotees visit this place and this year is no different. In the past two years, the government permitted limited pilgrims to visit Char Dham due to the outrage of Covid-19. However, in Kedarnath yatra 2023, there are no such limitations to visiting Kedarnath Temple.
While the rumors are spread that the devotees may lose a key gateway to the Kedarnath yatra 2023, Uttarakhand’s CM Pushkar Singh Dhami dispels all the rumors by giving the announcement, “The yatra will start in the next two months.” Several measures have been taken under consideration by the State government for the easy-going of the Kedarnath yatra 2023.

This year’s Opening and closing dates of the shrine

Devotees come from different parts of the Globe and eagerly wait for the opening of the gates of Kedarnath Temple. Tentative Dates of the opening of Gates (Kapat) – 26th April 2023.

However, the closing of the portal is Fixed i.e., 2 days after Diwali when Bhai Dhooj is celebrated, which will fall on 14 November this year. Kedarnath Temple will be closed for winter after Pooja Archana in winter.

Several measures are taken by Government this year

After the 2013’s Catastrophic Incident which had a very terrible impact where thousands of living beings were scummed to death because of devastating floods.
1. The ITBP (Indo- Tibetan Border Force) has come into action for any mishap and is prepared to felicitate a pilgrimage movement in Char Dham.
2. Last year, because of the waning of Covid- 19 situation, the administration is expecting a huge influx of devotees and for that administration, ITBP teams have made massive arrangements and are prepared for the worst.
3. Government has Upgraded and developed the roads which connect all four ‘Dhams’ i.e., Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
4. New signboards and security measures have been put up to help drives to drive more safely.
5. A total of 323 toilets have been built around the temple premises and on the trek route for the ease of pilgrims.

A lot is being done from the government side for the smooth functioning of this pious journey. Kedarnath is one of those temples that every Hindu wishes to visit once in their lifetime and why not, the aura and the positivity of this place are surreal. Regardless of the disturbance in the ecosystem, the administrations are working hard for the safety of the pilgrims and nature enthusiast travelers.
The Kedarnath, the heaven on Earth which encompasses not only the aura but the beautiful landscape filled with snow is all set to open its arms to people.
