History of Srinagar
Before the entrance of the British Raj Srinagar was the capital of Garhwal Hills. The capital of Garhwal Hills was shifted from Chandpur Garhi to Srinagar by King Ajay Pal during 1506-1512 CE. From 1806 to 1815 Srinagar was under the rule of Gorkhas who got defeated by the British. Britishers established the modern city of Garhwal Hills after it got demolished and flushed off by the floods. During the burst of Gohna Lake dam, the old Srinagar city got demolished which destroyed all the old artifact of the city of the Garhwal Hills.

Weather in Srinagar
One can experience all three seasons summer, winter, and rainy to their fullest. During the summer season, the temperature fluctuates between 25oC to 40oC. During heavy rain in the rainy season, it becomes a bit difficult to Travel to Srinagar. Due to the fall of snow in the Garhwal Hills, the winters become too cold which makes the temperature as low as 5oC to 15oC. The nearest airport for Srinagar Tourism is Dehradun Jolly Grant airport which is 150 km far from Srinagar.
By Train:
Rishikesh and Kotdwar are the closest railway stations to experience Srinagar Tourism. Wherein Rishikesh is a small station due to which it is not connected to fast trains whereas Kotdwar is attached by only a few trains. Haridwar railway junction is connected to most of the cities so it has been titled the railhead of Srinagar and it takes 24 km from Rishikesh to Travel to Srinagar.
By Road:
You can experience Srinagar Tourism via raod for which the vital point to start is Rishikesh. NH58 is the highway that will take you to Travel to Srinagar which joins Delhi and Badrinath and Mana Pass. The distance between Srinagar and Rishikesh is 108 kms. The road distance of Srinagar from Kotdwar is 138km. You can take NH119 from Kotdwar to reach Pauri from where in turn you can Travel to Srinagar.
