KEDARKANTHA trek is one of the mountain trek of Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. This beautiful trek is situated in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and the average height of this trek is 12,500FT nearly 3800m. It is located within the Govind wildlife sanctuary in Uttarkashi district. KEDARKANTHA Is also known as “throat of lord Shiva” as it carry the Mythological importance which attract the tourist for the Trek. As one legends says that Lord Shiva sat here to meditate but was disturbed by running bull due to this he went to another place named “KEDARNATH” ,UTTARAKHAND Another mythology about the KEDARKANTHA related with the pandavas. After the battle of Mahabharat pandavas went to seek lord shiva’s for his blessing but he incarnated himself as bull but Bheem recognize him and went after him. So lord Shiva hide himself underground. When he came out he himself divided his body parts and each part fell at different places. His throat fell on KEDARKANTHA that’s why it is also known as “Throat of Lord Shiva”.

KEDARKANTHA is famous for its amazing view and heavy rainfall which attract the trekker’s is large number every year. Various kins of sports and adventure can also attract the tourist which everyone want to do. it is famous for camping, skiing and so many other things to do. Beautiful forest surrounded during the entire trek.
How to reach kedarkantha trek-:
For KEDARKANTHA trek the distance from Dehradun to Sankri village is 200km from Dehradun so you can get direct buses from the bus station near railway station.
Direct bus to Sankri:
From Dehradun, you can get direct buses Sankri from Bus station near railway station. The timings from 7am to 8am and takes around 10-12 hours to reach the Sankri village.
The bus named Vishwanath bus seva , to reach Sankri village.
In case you missed the early morning buses, then you take Hanol bus which goes via Mussoorie and get down at mori. From mori you can hired a private taxi or cab service.
You can also take buses to purola as well and then take a taxi from there.

By Private car:
You can go with your own car which takes almost 7-8 hours journey to sankri village. With the car your expenses increases. You expenses includes petrol/diesel , service , tyers etc.
Because of long route sometimes when getting tired you can easily stop at some point to take the rest.
By the private car the petrol /diesel expense is upto 3000.
By bike :
By bike it will take the whole day to reach sankri village but you enjoy the bike ride with beautiful scenic view along the route.
Train and aeroplane facilities are not available yet.
Best time to visit:
As you know it is a hilly area, it remain throughout the year but from December to march is found to be the best time for KEDARKANTHA trek because of maximum snowfall but apart from this you can also go for summer and autumn.

Travel tips:
After the long travel just take rest at Sankri village before start your trek.
- Carry sleeping bag, warm clothes, socks, shoes, medicines.
- Carry hot water bottle.
- Carry energy providing food and not to throw garbage on the ground.
- Matchbox and torch should be in your bag because of no electricity as it is a forest area.
- Your phone battery should be fully charged.
