Pilgrims travelling to the Kedarnath temple as part of the Chardham Yatra will be accommodated in a tent colony. The tourist department has approved a budget of Rs 2.9 crore for the establishment of a tent colony.
The state’s Chardham Yatra will begin on May 3. A record number of pilgrims are expected this time, based on registration for the Yatra and online booking of the Kedarnath Heli service. The government and the tourism department are working hard to prepare for the influx of passengers. The pilgrims’ accommodation options at Kedarnath Dham are limited. Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) rest houses in Dham are already full.
According to Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, a big number of travellers are expected to visit the Chardham Yatra this year. The Chardhams are making plans in light of this. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam will set up tents to accommodate around 1500 passengers. GMVN will be used to establish a tent colony. The tourist department has approved a budget of Rs 2.9 crore for this.
The Difficulty of Crowd control will remain notwithstanding the facility arrangements.
The Chardham Yatra, which has been impacted by the Corona epidemic for the past two years, could see a large population of pilgrims. The Dhams of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri have little capacity for caring. Controlling the crowds in the Dhams and arranging facilities for pilgrims is a major problem in such a setting. If a significant number of passengers arrive at the Dham without prior plans, there may be issues. However, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked that all preparations be made prior to the start of the Yatra.
